What's wrong with Ice Cream?

First of all, I would like to thank those of you who came yesterday to watch Peaceful Warrior, especially those who drove from far away ;-) We had a great turnout. I am grateful for the opportunity to bring this type of films to you.
For those who are interest in reading the book or any other book from Dan Millman, you can get them through our online bookstore. We currently have "The Way of the Peaceful Warrior" listed, but once you click on it, several other books from him come too and you can buy them new or used. For books, click here
There was one line of the film that really applies to understanding the energetics of food. Remember when Socrates says to Dan when they were drinking at the bar "Nothing is good or bad. The important thing is to be conscious about your choices and responsible for your actions" I love this line.
Many of my clients often come to me for a session and I can tell they have a guilt face with them. When I ask, so...how you've doing? Well, I did something really bad they say, I ate Ice cream! and my answer is always the same "Who told you that eating Ice cream is bad?"
You see, my approach to food has nothing to do with restrictions, but to understand how the energetics of food work so that you can be free, free from what? free from dieting! Once you understand that certain foods produce certain physical and psycological effects in your body, you will be able to make conscious choices.
Let's say is Thursday and you feel like having Ice cream. Ice cream will give you a good feeling & a rush of energy, but you will crash hard the next day when you wake up. Ice cream is obviously very Cooling and creates Dampness. Due to both qualities, it cools down the digestive fire and it weekends the Qi, so the body is unable to obtain Qi from foods until it gains its Fire back.
Your energy will be much lower and emotionally you will have a tendency to overreact to any simple problem that comes your way. You don't want to feel like this on a Friday when you have to get a lot of things done at work. So what to do?
Instead of having Ice cream by yourself on Thursday, have it on Saturday with your friends or family, that way next day you can enjoy what I call "an ice cream coma" on your bed, on Sunday, watching some silly movies ;)
Also, it is my experience that when you openly share fun foods (something you are not supposed to eat daily) with others , you eat less of it.
Hope that helps!
